The Exquisite Corpse of the Unknowable Experience

I was most attracted by the contradiction I felt about the title of this project — The Exquisite Corpse of the Unknown Veteran. It seemed to me that this launched the work beyond the interconnectedness of family and friends, into the terrain of the totalizing experience of the Veteran. This led me to think about unknowable experience. The service provided by millions of men and women is something I believe is so personal that it lives in the abstract; it defies full explanation, as — like art — it cannot be transmuted into words.—Andrew Mount
