The Exquisite Corpse of Ed Munis

I chose to honor incarcerated veterans. Veterans make up 9 percent of the prison population in the U.S. The number of vets in the criminal justice system has been described as a national crisis. 83 percent of incarcerated veterans who suffer from PTSD committed a violent crime since the completion of their military service. Ed Munis and a fellow inmate set up an inmate-run Veteran Service Office inside Soledad Correctional Training Facility, where incarcerated vets can get help filing for, and fighting for, VA benefits for themselves and their dependents.—Katya McCulloch
