Niuta Teitelbaum, aka Little Wanda with the Braids, was a leader in the resistance to the Nazis as a member of the Zydowska Organizacja Bojowaor Jewish Fighting Organization and the Communist Guardia Ludowa, or People’s Guard. After many successful actions she was captured and killed at the age 25. She said: "I am a Jew. My place is in the struggle against the Nazis for the honor of my people, for a free Poland, and for the liberation of all oppressed peoples."—Susan Greene
